{"id":405,"date":"2017-08-08T10:13:28","date_gmt":"2017-08-08T10:13:28","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/newweb.turismoenzamora.es\/?page_id=405"},"modified":"2020-06-16T10:32:55","modified_gmt":"2020-06-16T10:32:55","slug":"toro-2","status":"publish","type":"page","link":"https:\/\/turismoenzamora.es\/en\/toro-2\/","title":{"rendered":"Toro"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><\/p>\n<h1 class=\"title\">Toro<\/h1>\n<p><img fetchpriority=\"high\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"aligncenter size-full wp-image-6930\" src=\"https:\/\/turismoenzamora.es\/wp-content\/uploads\/2017\/08\/Patrimonio-gastron\u00f3micotoro.jpg\" alt=\"\" data-id=\"6930\" width=\"900\" height=\"500\" srcset=\"https:\/\/turismoenzamora.es\/wp-content\/uploads\/2017\/08\/Patrimonio-gastron\u00f3micotoro.jpg 900w, https:\/\/turismoenzamora.es\/wp-content\/uploads\/2017\/08\/Patrimonio-gastron\u00f3micotoro-300x167.jpg 300w, https:\/\/turismoenzamora.es\/wp-content\/uploads\/2017\/08\/Patrimonio-gastron\u00f3micotoro-768x427.jpg 768w\" sizes=\"(max-width: 900px) 100vw, 900px\" \/><\/p>\n<p>In the southeast corner of the province, where Zamora meets Valladolid, is the&nbsp;<strong>winemaking region of Toro<\/strong>, a place where grapes were already being fermented when the Roman troops took the current city of Toro as their base to defeat the Cantabrians and Asturians.<\/p>\n<p>Officially constituted in 1987,&nbsp;<strong>the Toro DO<\/strong>&nbsp;is part of the natural regions of Tierra del Vino, Valle del Guare\u00f1a and Tierra de Toro, and borders on the desolate uplands of Tierra del Pan and Tierra de Campos. The area covers 60,000 hectares, 5,800 of them dedicated to the vine that helps shape its characteristic landscape.<\/p>\n<p>The area encompasses three municipalities of Valladolid, which include three wineries and twelve Zamoran municipalities where 41 winemakers are located. In addition to the city of Toro, the Zamoran part of this DO includes the municipalities of Argujillo, B\u00f3veda de Toro, Morales de Toro, El Pego, Peleagonzalo, El Pi\u00f1ero, San Miguel de la Ribera, Sanzoles, Valdefinjas, Venialbo and Villabuena del Puente.<\/p>\n<p><img decoding=\"async\" class=\"size-medium wp-image-626 alignleft\" src=\"https:\/\/turismoenzamora.es\/wp-content\/uploads\/2017\/08\/toro_2-300x225.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"300\" height=\"225\" srcset=\"https:\/\/turismoenzamora.es\/wp-content\/uploads\/2017\/08\/toro_2-300x225.jpg 300w, https:\/\/turismoenzamora.es\/wp-content\/uploads\/2017\/08\/toro_2.jpg 400w\" sizes=\"(max-width: 300px) 100vw, 300px\" \/>The sharp cold of Toro&#8217;s winters, along with its hot summers and many hours of sunlight throughout the year, provide an exceptional quality grape, particular to the local variety, Tinta de Toro.<\/p>\n<p>In addition to the main variety, Grenache is also used. In white wines, the Verdejo and Malvas\u00eda grapes are used.<\/p>\n<p>Among the wines that have brought worldwide renown to the region are its young and oaky reds and aged wines, matured over the course of at least 12 months, six of those months in oak barrels.
