{"id":269,"date":"2017-08-08T07:13:28","date_gmt":"2017-08-08T07:13:28","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/newweb.turismoenzamora.es\/?page_id=269"},"modified":"2017-11-20T18:01:15","modified_gmt":"2017-11-20T18:01:15","slug":"ruta-arqueologica","status":"publish","type":"page","link":"https:\/\/turismoenzamora.es\/en\/ruta-arqueologica\/","title":{"rendered":"Arqueological route"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><\/p>\n<h1>Arqueological route<\/h1>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p><img fetchpriority=\"high\" decoding=\"async\" class=\" wp-image-673 aligncenter\" src=\"https:\/\/turismoenzamora.es\/wp-content\/uploads\/2017\/08\/r_arqueolOgica_1-300x201.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"606\" height=\"406\" srcset=\"https:\/\/turismoenzamora.es\/wp-content\/uploads\/2017\/08\/r_arqueolOgica_1-300x201.jpg 300w, https:\/\/turismoenzamora.es\/wp-content\/uploads\/2017\/08\/r_arqueolOgica_1.jpg 670w\" sizes=\"(max-width: 606px) 100vw, 606px\" \/><\/p>\n<div>\n<p>This route passes through the beautiful and fertile district of Los Valles, which, alongside its green fields, hides first class archaeological heritage, with centres and sites spread throughout the Carpurias mountain range.<\/p>\n<p>VISITS<\/p>\n<\/div>\n<p><strong>Archaeology centre in Manganeses de la Polvorosa<\/strong> (where the daily life of the inhabitants of the village up until Roman times is recreated); Morales del Rey, the San Adri\u00e1n dolmen and an archaeology centre about the Neolithic period; Arrabalde, the El Caste\u00f3n de los Moros dolmen and an archaeology centre about the Astur period, with information about the discovery of the famous Arrabalde treasure; Rosinos de Vidriales recreates the Roman camp of Petavonium and in Santib\u00e1\u00f1ez de Vidriales you will find the Roman Camp Visitor Centre.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Granucillo de Vidriales<\/strong>: Megalithic tombs in Las Pe\u00f1ezuelas and San Adri\u00e1n and the ruins of the castle owned by the Counts of Benavente.<\/p>\n<p><strong>San Pedro de la Vi\u00f1a<\/strong>: Traditional Roman springs.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Camarzana de Tera<\/strong>: Late Roman village decorated with mosaics.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Santa Marta de Tera:<\/strong> A pretty 12th-century Romanesque church with interesting iconography that includes embossed figures, the most famous of which is that of Saint James the Apostle.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Benavente:<\/strong> This past and present strategic point and crossroads marks the end of The Silver Way in Zamora and provides the visitor with a range of emblematic monuments, such as the Torre del Caracol tower, part of the Pimentel family\u2019s magnificent palace-castle, and the Romanesque churches of San Juan del Mercado and Santa Mar\u00eda del Azogue, from the 12th and 13th centuries. The valleys\u2019 fields have made the region\u2019s red peppers famous, while the medium-alcohol light red &#8216;clarete&#8217; wine of the lowlands has been awarded D.O. status.
