{"id":139,"date":"2017-08-07T10:52:47","date_gmt":"2017-08-07T08:52:47","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/newweb.turismoenzamora.es\/?page_id=139"},"modified":"2021-09-01T16:36:15","modified_gmt":"2021-09-01T14:36:15","slug":"villafafila","status":"publish","type":"page","link":"https:\/\/turismoenzamora.es\/en\/patrimonio-natural\/villafafila\/","title":{"rendered":"Villaf\u00e1fila"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><\/p>\n<h1>Villaf\u00e1fila<\/h1>\n<h1><img fetchpriority=\"high\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"aligncenter size-full wp-image-6928\" src=\"https:\/\/turismoenzamora.es\/wp-content\/uploads\/2017\/08\/Patrimonio-naturalvillafafila.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"900\" height=\"600\" data-id=\"6928\" srcset=\"https:\/\/turismoenzamora.es\/wp-content\/uploads\/2017\/08\/Patrimonio-naturalvillafafila.jpg 900w, https:\/\/turismoenzamora.es\/wp-content\/uploads\/2017\/08\/Patrimonio-naturalvillafafila-300x200.jpg 300w, https:\/\/turismoenzamora.es\/wp-content\/uploads\/2017\/08\/Patrimonio-naturalvillafafila-768x512.jpg 768w\" sizes=\"(max-width: 900px) 100vw, 900px\" \/><\/h1>\n<p>In the northeast of the province of Zamora, surrounded by the dovecotes typical of the Tierra de Campos, is the chain of lakes of Villaf\u00e1fila, with 32,682 hectares of Regional Hunting Reserve, constituting one of the peninsula&#8217;s largest wetlands. &nbsp; Flat plains, wide horizons and the geographical characteristics of the terrain are responsible for the formation of the lakes that give this wetland major importance in the Iberian Peninsula, as an important enclave for aquatic birds in Castilla y Le\u00f3n and a chain of lakes with great importance on a national and European level.<\/p>\n<p>Although Tierra de Campos is known for having sandy, clay soils, the Lagunas de Villaf\u00e1fila, also known as &#8220;Las Salinas&#8221;, are the result of impermeable rock with an accumulation of water, giving rise to the richest population of birds in the Community. &nbsp;The salinity of its water is the result of a large amount of salt that permeate the materials that compose its subsoil.<\/p>\n<p><img decoding=\"async\" class=\" wp-image-475 alignleft\" src=\"https:\/\/turismoenzamora.es\/wp-content\/uploads\/2017\/08\/Villaf\u00e1fila_2-300x134.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"278\" height=\"124\" srcset=\"https:\/\/turismoenzamora.es\/wp-content\/uploads\/2017\/08\/Villaf\u00e1fila_2-300x134.jpg 300w, https:\/\/turismoenzamora.es\/wp-content\/uploads\/2017\/08\/Villaf\u00e1fila_2-768x343.jpg 768w, https:\/\/turismoenzamora.es\/wp-content\/uploads\/2017\/08\/Villaf\u00e1fila_2-1024x458.jpg 1024w, https:\/\/turismoenzamora.es\/wp-content\/uploads\/2017\/08\/Villaf\u00e1fila_2.jpg 1496w\" sizes=\"(max-width: 278px) 100vw, 278px\" \/>Autumn and spring evenings are the perfect time for bird-watchers to use their binoculars to watch the numerous groups of birds come to the wetlands of Tierra de Campos as they return to these Zamoran lakes to rest during their long migrations. Winged creatures from all over Europe make Villaf\u00e1fila a paradise for &#8220;ornitourism&#8221;.<\/p>\n<p>The most numerous of all the species is the mallard, although it is also easy to find lapwings, white storks, grey herons, common cranes and greylag geese. The Reserve is notable, however, for being home to the largest stable population of great bustards on the European continent.
